In and around Baltimore, there are plenty of great places to lace up some skates and try your skill on the ice.
The Reisterstown Sportsplex. The photo of our happy ice skater on the cover of the December issue was taken at The Reisterstown Sportsplex. New in 2008, the complex houses a 200 x 85 foot NHL ice rink (and a 180 x 80 foot indoor soccer/lacrosse field with state of the art artificial turf for those who prefer to play off the ice). 401 Mitchell Drive, Reisterstown, MD 21136
While the Reisterstown Sportsplex is the area’s newest indoor ice rink, there are other great choices for ice skating this winter in and around Baltimore.
Mount Pleasant Ice Arena. Open for over twenty years, Mount Pleasant Ice Arena is where generations of Baltimoreans have learned to skate and play ice hockey, both recreationally and competitively. World Champion and Bel Air resident Kimmie Meissner found her footing here, and word has it that she still makes occasional appearances! Ice skating outdoors takes the activity to a whole other dimension. Here are a couple local outdoor ice skating options:
Outdoor Ice Rink at Quiet Waters Park. Enjoy ice skating in a beautiful outdoor park setting. The expansive park also boasts trails that wind through forests and past grassy fields, a children’s playground, a dog park, and more—all set amidst 340 acres of open park land. Pandora Ice Rink at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Ice skating outdoors in the heart of Baltimore’s bustling Inner Harbor is a real treat for the whole family. Located at the top of the Inner Harbor Ampitheater between the Harborplace Pavilions, the rink puts skaters in the heart of the city’s vibrant downtown action. 201 E Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202
