Harford Day School
Camp Invention, the nation’s premier summer enrichment day camp program, supported by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and a product of the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF), is coming to Harford Day School the week of August 21, 2017. For students entering grades one through six, Camp Invention is a weeklong adventure that will turn the summer from ordinary to extraordinary through hands-on problem solving, using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
This year’s Camp Invention curriculum is called Launch, inspired by some of our nation’s most brilliant minds including experienced educators, Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and developed in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Launch features hands-on modules like Duct Tape Billionaire™, where Campers explore patents, hear how to launch a business, and present their products to mock investors; Mission: Space Makers ™, where Campers set up a Space Lab to hatch eggs and grow crystal trees. Have A Blast™, where Campers engineer a variety of working tools, including “snowball” throwers, a giant air cannon and more; and Operation Keep Out™, where children create the Ultimate Spy Gadget Alarm Box to keep treasures secure.
