10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Goshen Farm invites kids of all ages to its Fall Open House, September 16, from 10am – 4pm, at 1420 Cape St. Claire Road, Annapolis, 21409.
In partnership with Coastal Conservation Association Maryland, visitors will have hands-on experience in building concrete oyster reef balls at Goshen Farm. The gum-shaped structures with holes in their walls serve as a home base for critters that filter contaminants in waterways. The reef balls will be placed in the Chesapeake Bay to create new living oyster reefs and to restore marine habitat for crabs, fish, oysters, anemones, worms, etc.
Come, see, and marvel at Chesapeake Birds of Prey. Liz Smith of Raptor’s Eye will display and discuss owls, falcons, osprey, and hawks; their lifestyles; their importance to humans and the environment; and why we should save their wildlife habitat.
Live music! Tours galore! Visit and learn about the 1783 Goshen Farm House; the 60-family Sharing Garden; the Colonial Kitchen Garden; the Henson-Hall Slave Garden; the six, active beehives in the Apiary; the Hoop House, the Soil Health Pit; and many, many more points of interest.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, home-made desserts, soft drinks, and fresh, shucked oysters are available for purchase.
FREE, donations gladly accepted!
