The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore
Hop like a Panamanian golden frog, swing like a colobus monkey and prance like an addra gazelle to the family friendly beats and activities of Zoo Bop at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on Saturday, September 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Geared toward younger cubs, families can dance, sing and join in the live-performance ex-zoo-berance of Angelo and Marie’s Fantastic Bubble Show, Baby Beats! with Max and Root, and 123 Andrés.
At 10:30, get blown away by the Baltimore-based Angelo and Marie’s Fantastic Bubble Show, where the duo creates a truly unique liquid art show, followed by Baby Beats! with Max and Root – a live music and movement program for children!. Max Bent and Jamaal “Black Root” Collier are both human beat-boxers trained in the field of arts integration. After participating in training for early education offered by Wolf Trap, Max and Root began applying their musical abilities to writing content geared towards the curious and active minds of the younger crowd. Baby Beats! was born at Remington’s Single Carrot Theatre in Baltimore.
Bop ‘til you drop with returning Zoo Bop performer Andrés Salguero, better known as 123 Andrés. Popular in U.S. and Latin American family music scenes, 123 Andrés has released three albums – most recently La Luna. A native of Bogota, Columbia, Andrés brings to audiences joyful sounds, passion for bilingualism and a high-energy love of music that gets kids singing and dancing in Spanish and English. His album “Arriba Abajo”, won the Latin Grammy for best children’s album in 2016 as well as the Parent’s Choice Gold Award. His debut album “¡Uno, Dos, Tres Andrés en español y en inglés!” was a 2015 Latin Grammy Nominee for Best Children’s Album.
