akimboWith lots of dance, food and football, it’s sure to be a fun weekend, with a somber remembrance of 9/11.

FRIDAY

Star-Spangled Banner Weekend

This three-day event will include battle reenactments, educational sessions, cooking demonstrations, a few bombardments and a performance by the U.S. Army Field Band, as well as a special Sept. 11 memorial service and the raising of the flag. Tickets: $10. Sept. 9-11 at Fort McHenry.

Ravens Countdown to Kickoff

Get down gridiron-style at the Ravens’ Countdown to Kickoff Party. Held two days before the team’s first game of the season, the event will feature past and current players, cheerleaders, mascot Poe and headliners alt-rockers Three Doors Down. Tickets: $10-20. 5-11 p.m. at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

SATURDAY

QUE at the Zoo

Combine your love of the zoo and BBQ with this daylong event will feature great local live music, festival vendors and BBQ from some of the best places around. Don’t miss out! Tickets: $29 for adults, $19 for kids. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Maryland Zoo.

AKIMBO

Fall in step as 15-plus dance companies and more than 150 individual performers fill the streets and venues of Station North for the fifth annual AKIMBO Dance & Movement Art Festival. Free. 1-6 p.m. throughout Station North.

Ukranian Festival

Check out traditional Ukrainian culture and heritage during this two-day celebration, featuring live music, singing, dance and folk arts, including pysanky egg demonstrations—oh, and a pierogi-eating contest, naturally. Free. Sept. 10-11 at the Saint Michael Ukrainian Church Grounds.

SUNDAY

The Muppets Take Manhattan Revival at The Senator

This childhood favorite is coming back to charm the next generation. Catch this classic on the big screen at The Senator Theatre and (re)introduce Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and the crew to your family. Tickets: $7. 10 a.m. at The Senator Theatre.

Ravens Kickoff

The Flock starts their season with an at-home game against the Buffalo Bills! Tickets: $90-900. 1 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium.
