Thomas and Friends Teach STEM Basics at New Port Discovery Exhibit

Port discovery thomas for STEM postAll aboard! Visitors to the new 1,500-square-foot Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails exhibit at Port Discovery will be immersed in a life-like recreation of the Island of Sodor. Once inside, they help Thomas and his friends solve all sorts of puzzles—from simple sorting and shape identification to complex engineering obstacles. Visitors might find themselves climbing into Thomas’ cab to explore the engine’s inner workings; loading luggage, livestock and other freight into the coach of a train car; or suiting up as a conductor to sell tickets to visitors.

For generations, children have gotten hooked on Thomas the Tank Engine and his host of ‘friends’. Exposing young kids ages 2 through 7 to the fundamentals of STEM (science technology engineering and math) literacy via the imaginative and interactive world of Thomas and Friends is sure to fire up their (STEM) engines!

About Elizabeth Heubeck

Elizabeth Heubeck, a native of Baltimore, is a former editor of Baltimore's Child and the mother of two teenagers.
