Turkey Trot Races

For many, this month is not just about giving thanks or having a great meal. It’s about running for a good cause. Here are a list of turkey trots and other races this month that support local organizations.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18
Columbia Turkey Chase 10K
Come run the 7th annual Columbia Turkey Chase. Starting near Nottingham’s bar and grill, this course is fit for both beginners and experienced runners.

THANKSGIVING DAY
Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
Sponsored by Fleet Feet Sports, this downtown Annapolis run includes a 5K and turkey costume contest. Children, strollers and dogs welcome. Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run Greater Chesapeake. 9 a.m., 318 6th St. $20 to run, $35 to run plus T-shirt. fleetfeetannapolis.com

Catonsville’s CHS XC Turkey Trot
This trot includes a 5K and one-mile fun run. Proceeds benefit Catonsville High School’s cross country team and other local organizations.

Turkey Trot Prediction Run 10K
Hosted by the Howard County Striders, this 10K race is a little different from others. The goal is to finish as close to 11 a.m. as possible. Jeffers Hill Neighborhood Center. $10 for member families, $12 for nonmember families. striders.net/turkey-trot

The Y in Central Maryland Turkey Trot 5K
Each year, the Y sponsors turkey trots around the area that benefit camp and other programs. All races are held on Thanksgiving Day and are open to runners, walkers, kids, strollers and dogs. $40 for adults, $22 for kids 7-17, $15 for dogs, $5 for kids up to age 6. Gobble Cobble Turkey Trot
Held in downtown Baltimore, this race benefits pancreatic cancer research center at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Greater Maryland chapter. 8 a.m. MAC Harbor East. $40 for adults, $15 for kids 6-13. active.com

SATURDAY, NOV. 24
Jug Bay Post Turkey Trail 5K
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in this post-Thanksgiving race. 9:30 a.m., Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. $25 for adults,
