‘Seussical Jr.’

Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts presents the Dr. Seuss-insired play “Seussical Jr.” Folly Quarter Middle School, 7-9 p.m., $8.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Watch one of this season’s highly anticipated new musicals “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” as it hits the Hippodrome stage this weekend. Naturally, audiences can expect big, Broadway-style numbers. But audiences should also be ready to take in some original and fresh dance sequences from choreographer Joshua Bergasse, who is best known for his work in Broadway plays such as “On The Town,” “Astaire” and “Gigi.” Through Jan.-27 at the Hippodrome Theatre. Tickets start at $83.

BSO Youth Orchestra

Three orchestral ensembles of more than 250 student musicians will perform. Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 7 p.m., $5 students/seniors, $10 adults.


Camp Center Stage

One day camp held when Baltimore City Public Schools are closed for professional development. Topics include stage makeup, fight choreography, dance, music, acting, prop building and more. Tours Grades 2-8. Center Stage, 8 a.m.-4p.m., $75.

Rodgers & Hammerstein

Conductor Jack Everly leads Broadway actors and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra through some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s greatest hits. Through Jan. 27 at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, times vary. Tickets start at $25.

World of Pets Expo

The title says it all. This is a one-weekend expo devoted to all things pets. Expect petting zoos, exhibitions and all kinds of entertainment. Jan. 25-27 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, $5 for kids ages 5-12, $12 for adults.


Family Paint Night

A guided paint night for the whole family with hot cocoa, hot cider and cookies. Ages 5-adult; kids under 13 must be with an adult. Anita C. Leight Estuary Center, 6-7:30 p.m., $10.

Paint Nite: Rainbow Unicorn

Pick up a paint brush and create this magical horned creature. For ages 6 and above. My Thai restaurant, 2 p.m. $45.

Trolley Tour

Live Baltimore takes prospective homeowners and families for a tour of Baltimore neighborhoods. Meet at Henderson-Hopkins School, 2100 Ashland Ave. Live Baltimore, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. $10.

Towson Frostbite 5K & Frozen Mile Fun Run

Follow through with your New Year’s resolution of a healthier 2019 by participating in this race that travels through the heart of Towson. 7 West Chesapeake Ave., 8 a.m, $10 registration, $20 for registration and shirt.


Theatre Night for Teens

Students in grades 9-12 enjoy a night of the theater just for them and which includes dinner, a Q&A with a guest artist, a performance of “Everything is Wonderful” and a post-show discussion and dessert. Everyman Theatre, 5:30 p.m. $10.

A Night of Entertainment Featuring Oz Pearlman

Magician Oz Pearlman was second runner up on “America’s Got Talent.” Now he brings his magical talents, mind reading and more to this Baltimore show. Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric, 7 p.m., tickets start at $36.
