Fun Before Flicks

AVAM’s Flicks from the Hill continues this week with the movie, “Mrs. Doubtfire.” Before the movie, there are two events. The first is a free boot camp class with Savoy Fitness, which starts at 6:30 p.m.

The second is all about good vibes: Movies goes can show up early to paint a rock with a design or kind message and then leave it somewhere for a stranger to find. Kindness rock painting is 6:30-8 p.m. The movie is free, and of course, there is free museum admission from 5 to 9 p.m. on movie nights. Federal Hill Park, 9 p.m.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We’re Going to the Moon!

Have you ever wanted to know what it is like on the moon? Let’s send a stuffed friend and ask all about it.  At this STEM program, we will use physics to calculate trajectory to do our own moon launch. Enoch Pratt Free Library, Hamilton Branch, 1 p.m. Free.

DIY Glow in the Dark T-Shirts for Ages 12 to 17

Children’s Gardening Summer Series: Mini Fairy Terrariums

Check out this Master Gardener class that is just right for kids.  This program combines both art and gardening, enabling kids to make a beautiful container display and to help cultivate a love of gardening.  For ages 6-12, registration required, parents and siblings welcome. Summer Scares: Campfire Creepies

Enjoy s’mores and scary campfire tales at this program for kids ages 5-7. Enoch Pratt Free Library, Forest Park Branch, 1-2 p.m. Free.

Holt Bonfire & Night Hike

Grab your bug spray and a water bottle and join us for a nocturnal exploration of Holt Park. For all ages, snacks will be provided. Holt Park, 6:30-8 p.m. Free.


The Belle Aire Market

Come to this summer open-air market and find treasures aplenty including antiques, clothing, housewares, handmade items and more.  The Belle Aire Market, 121 S. Main St. (Bel Air), 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Free.

Mud Day

Be ready to get muddy.  Have fun making mud art, then make your way through the mud obstacle course, and go to the popular mud pit.  Dance through the sprinklers or get sprayed off to get clean.  A change of clothes and water shoes are recommended. Lake Roland Nature Center, 2-4 p.m. $3 members, $5 nonmembers.

‘Eat More Plants’

Baltimore-based food writer Molly Krebs, who pens the blog “Spices in My DNA,” will discuss her new book, “Eat More Plants” and provide snacks cooked from the book’s recipes. Yum! Greedy Reads, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
