Sporting in Silence: Enhancing communication for athletes with hearing loss

Sporting in Silence is a free, public event featuring WNBA legend and four-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings speaking about how she overcame barriers, including her hearing loss, to achieve greatness on the court and in the business world. Her talk will be followed by a Q&A session with Dr. Catherine Palmer and Grant Rauterkus, authors of “Time Out! I Didn’t Hear You”, which reviews legal and technical aspects of accommodations in sports. The event seeks to inspire and equip athletes, coaches, families, audiologists, physicians, and scientists to help young people with hearing loss excel. Captioning and interpreter services will be available throughout the event. Inquiries about the event can be sent to Dr. Keith Duncan, rkduncan@umich.edu.
